About the role#
Amentum is looking for a Controls & Instrumentation Engineer Intern to support projects ranging from small studies to multi-million dollar turn-key supply. You will work under the supervision of senior engineering staff to design, develop, and deliver control and data acquisition systems. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Develop hardware assembly and wiring diagrams for control and data acquisition systems.
- Implement control system software designs for temperature, pressure, humidity, and flow.
- Develop control system software using PLC ladder logic, function block, and HMI programming.
- Support hardware assembly and fabrication.
- Apply closed loop controls methods to control continuously variable systems.
- Implement interfaces to facility equipment using hardwired connections and industrial networks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Electrical, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering.
- 0-5 years of experience in control or data acquisition system design, implementation, or commissioning.
- Solid math background for developing data uncertainty calculations and control transfer function realizations.
- US Citizenship.
- Interest in electronics, instrumentation, PLCs, variable frequency drives, motion control, and communication networks.
- Desire to learn software development in C, C++, or C# and tools like LabVIEW, MATLAB, and SIMULINK.
