About the role#
Amentum is seeking a Controls & Instrumentation Engineer Intern to support projects ranging from small studies to multi-million dollar supply contracts. You will work under the supervision of senior engineering staff to deliver control and data acquisition systems for scientific and test facilities. This role is full-time and based in Detroit, Michigan.
What you'll do#
- Develop hardware assembly and wiring diagrams for control and data acquisition systems.
- Implement control system software designs including temperature, pressure, humidity, flow, force, and motion control.
- Develop software using PLC ladder logic, function block, and HMI programming.
- Apply closed loop controls methods to manage continuously variable systems.
- Support hardware assembly and fabrication tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Electrical, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering at an ABET accredited institution.
- 0-5 years of experience in control or data acquisition system design, implementation, or commissioning.
- US Citizenship.
- A solid math background to select and develop data uncertainty calculations and control transfer function realizations.
