About the role#
This internship focuses on operational excellence and process improvement. You will work on-site in Olathe, Kansas, during the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid position designed to give you hands-on experience with lean manufacturing principles in a distribution environment.
What you'll do#
- Spend 60% to 80% of your time on the shop floor to observe and understand process paths.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to find opportunities for improvement.
- Apply lean techniques to simplify and standardize daily operations.
- Measure performance indicators before and after changes to track your success.
- Communicate with stakeholders to support the change management process.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore or junior in a Bachelor of Science program, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
- A strong interest in lean methodologies and process improvement.
- Ability to analyze data and make decisions based on your findings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well with others.
