About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Allegion, you will contribute to assembly and machining processes in the SAT business unit. This role offers hands-on experience in tooling, equipment, and process design. You will support new product launches, apply problem-solving tools, and make improvements to existing manufacturing processes. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Partner with manufacturing associates and supervisors to observe production processes, identify bottlenecks, and support daily production targets.
- Assist Value Stream leaders with project tasks, including data collection, layout sketches, and standard work documentation.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen events and 5S.
- Collect and analyze production and equipment data to support OEE tracking.
- Develop and update process work instructions, routings, and shop floor documentation.
- Observe and provide input on CNC programming or machining process discussions.
- Model and promote company safety and value standards.
- Complete a final project or presentation summarizing an implemented improvement or analysis.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Artificial Intelligence, Integrated Business and Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative.
- Strong interest in manufacturing and continuous improvement.
- Basic familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts like 5S, standard work, and value stream mapping.
- Solid analytical skills and comfort with data.
- Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Effective listening, time management, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Basic CAD skills or familiarity with manufacturing processes such as cutting, machining, or fabrication.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office programs, specifically Excel Macros, MS List, and database applications.
- Working knowledge of Power BI, Python, and CAD software like SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD is preferred.
