About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Indianapolis, Indiana. You will join the process engineering team to support the Exits business unit. The role focuses on Assembly, Coatings, and Fabrication processes, as well as new product development. You will work on-site to gain practical experience in manufacturing, tooling, and process design.
What you'll do#
- Design engineering solutions for tooling, fixturing, and controls.
- Support new product launches and operational improvements.
- Quote equipment, present options, and manage implementation with support from maintenance, tool room, and controls teams.
- Assist with execution tasks for robotic automation projects in Assembly.
- Provide solutions to improve safety, quality, and delivery in assembly processes.
- Apply DFA principles and LEAN production practices to your daily work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Experience or coursework in 3D modeling, such as Creo or similar packages.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- A self-starter attitude and a willingness to collaborate cross-functionally in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
