About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will contribute to assembly, coatings, and new product development projects within our Exits business unit. This is a full-time, 12-week summer internship where you will work alongside experienced engineers, maintenance teams, and operators. You will gain hands-on experience in process design, tooling, and equipment while supporting new product launches and improving existing manufacturing workflows.
What you'll do#
- Support Lean initiatives through operational design, process improvements, and systems support using value stream mapping.
- Participate in and direct Gemba Walks to educate others on continuous improvement, including takt time attainment and Lean methodologies.
- Analyze existing business processes and software to identify and implement design improvements.
- Monitor daily finishing processes, including plating, powder coat, e-coat, and anodizing.
- Design equipment and tooling, manage quotes, and execute options for new product launches.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling software, such as Creo.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to access, organize, and present complex data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, and an interest in learning process-control software.
- Demonstrated leadership initiative through school projects, clubs, or previous work experience.
