About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering intern, you will contribute to assembly, coatings, and new product development projects within the Exits business unit. This full-time, 12-week summer internship offers hands-on experience in tooling, equipment, and process design. You will work alongside experienced engineers, value stream coaches, and operators to learn how to maintain and improve manufacturing processes.
What you'll do#
- Support new product launches by designing equipment and tooling.
- Apply problem-solving tools to make improvements in existing manufacturing processes.
- Support Lean initiatives in collaboration with the value stream team through operational design and process improvements.
- Analyze existing business processes and software for potential design improvements.
- Support root-cause investigations into out-of-spec conditions under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Assist in monitoring finishing processes and gathering process data for team review.
- Maintain process documentation and contribute to process capability studies.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to access, organize, and present complex data.
- Experience or familiarity with 3D modeling in Creo or other modeling software.
- Familiarity with MS Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work on-site in Indianapolis.
