About the role#
This summer internship focuses on operational excellence within our distribution environment. You will spend most of your time on the shop floor to identify ways to improve our processes. This is a full-time, paid position designed for students interested in lean methodologies and data-driven problem solving.
What you'll do#
- Spend 60% to 80% of your time on the shop floor to observe and understand assigned process paths.
- Work with cross-functional teams to find and implement process improvements.
- Use lean techniques like standardization, 5S, and value stream mapping to simplify operations.
- Measure key performance indicators before and after changes to track success.
- Communicate with stakeholders to support the change management process.
- Engage with team members to gather feedback and understand their needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore or Junior in a Bachelor of Science program for Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- A strong interest in lean methodologies and process improvement.
- Ability to analyze data and make decisions based on your findings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
