About the role#
As a Summer Intern in the Underwriting department, you will gain hands-on experience in the commercial insurance industry. You will work within one of our business teams to develop technical knowledge and professional skills. This 9-week program includes instructor-led masterclasses, mentoring, and networking opportunities. Interns who complete the program may be considered for a full-time role in the Analyst program beginning in July 2028.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate and analyze risks to help determine appropriate coverage, terms, and pricing.
- Review underwriting submissions, financial information, loss history, and exposure data.
- Assist in the preparation of quotes, proposals, renewals, and other underwriting documentation.
- Partner with experienced underwriters and cross-functional teams, including Claims, Actuarial, and Risk Engineering.
- Use data and analytical tools to support underwriting decisions.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with an expected graduation date no later than June 2028.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Availability for the full internship program from June 7 through August 6, 2027.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
- You must be able to work in the office at least four days per week.
