About the role#
This temporary internship provides exposure to the Emergency Medicine Department, allowing participants to work alongside doctors and nurses to assess and enroll patients in clinical trials. This role is intended for individuals, such as recent college graduates in a gap year, who are considering a future in the medical profession. The position is part-time and involves working in clinical care areas, office settings, and laboratory environments.
What you'll do#
- Screen potential subjects and obtain informed consent under the supervision of a Research Coordinator or Investigator.
- Collect and process human specimens.
- Provide designated treatment programs to study participants.
- Perform database abstraction from medical records.
- Maintain necessary research records and assist with data entry and filing.
- Provide administrative office coverage, including answering phones, typing documents, and creating spreadsheets or presentations.
- Communicate regularly with the research team regarding study activities.
What you'll need#
- A college degree is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting or with individuals with complex health and social care needs.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work collaboratively as a team member.
- Proficiency with computers.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including walking, sitting, lifting at least 10 pounds, and pushing patients in wheelchairs or supplies on rolling carts.

- Compensation: $18.85 - $28.30 per hour.
