About the role#
The Nurse Extern works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) to gain hands-on clinical experience. You will perform delegated tasks that align with your current education and validated competencies. This role supports the nursing team in delivering safe, high-quality care and helps manage patient throughput through daily unit activities.
What you'll do#
- Support patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
- Obtain and document routine clinical measurements, such as vital signs and intake/output.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Observe and communicate changes in a patient's physical or emotional condition to the RN.
- Perform clerical and administrative support functions to help unit workflow.
What you'll need#
- Proof of a high school education.
- Completion of the first semester in an accredited School of Nursing.
- Good standing within your nursing program.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- A satisfactory Reference Form.
