About the role#
Advocate Health is seeking a Student Intern for Community Health at Advocate Trinity Hospital in Chicago. This is a part-time, paid internship designed for current college or university undergraduates. We prefer students majoring in Public Health, Sociology, or Psychology to ensure the work aligns with your academic goals. This role is grant-funded, and applicants must reside in one of the following Chicago zip codes: 60608, 60609, 60612, 60615, 60617, 60619, 60620, 60621, 60622, 60623, 60624, 60629, 60632, 60636, 60637, 60639, 60644, 60647, 60649, 60651, 60653, 60707, or 60827.
What you'll do#
- Perform patient and family visits and deliver support services.
- Conduct studies, investigations, and research projects.
- Assist with data analysis and create reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Provide administrative office coverage, including answering phones, data entry, and filing.
- Type documents such as letters.
- Communicate effectively with the public and staff at all levels of the health system.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student.
- Strong planning, prioritizing, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Interpersonal and team-oriented skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Computer proficiency.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
- Physical ability to walk, sit, reach overhead, and lift at least 10 pounds to shoulder height.
- Ability to push patients in wheelchairs or move supplies on rolling carts.
