About the role#
This is a part-time, PRN position for a student technologist within the Interventional Radiology department. You will work under the supervision of a radiology technologist to support patient care and department operations. This role provides clinical exposure for students pursuing a career in medical imaging.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic diagnostic x-rays under the supervision of a radiology technologist.
- Prepare patients for exams and ensure their safety.
- Assist physicians and technologists during diagnostic procedures.
- Identify and answer patient questions regarding their procedures.
- Retrieve patient orders and requisitions while managing tasks in the EMR, RIS, and other standard applications.
- Obtain medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast media as directed.
- Provide clinical support, including assisting patients with restrooms, bedpans, and urinals.
- Support administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a medical imaging educational program, with preference for senior students in a Radiography program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Clinical experience gained through your educational program.
- Medical clerical skills are preferred.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical tasks, including lifting and moving patients or equipment.
- Willingness to follow radiation safety, MRI safety, and infection control guidelines.
