About the role#
The Pediatric Genetic Counselor Intern position is a full-time role based in Winston Salem, North Carolina. This internship offers the opportunity to gain clinical and administrative experience within a large integrated health system. The position follows a standard Monday through Friday schedule.
What you'll do#
- Conduct patient and family visits and provide support services.
- Provide administrative coverage for the office, including answering phones and maintaining data.
- Create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations to support team operations.
- Assist with research projects, data analysis, and the preparation of reports.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the health system and the public.
- Perform physical tasks including walking, sitting, lifting up to 10 pounds, and assisting with patient transport in wheelchairs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate, Master's, or postgraduate program.
- A GED or equivalent education.
- Strong planning, prioritizing, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
- Proficiency with computer tasks.
- Relevant majors include Health Administration, Biology, Public Health, or Nursing.
