About the role#
This internship provides practical work experience within the financial, accounting, and revenue cycle operations departments at Advocate Health. You will support business objectives across various functions, including system budgeting, general accounting, financial planning, internal audit, physician compensation, reimbursement, treasury, and revenue cycle services. This position is full-time, remote, and paid at $21.00 per hour.
What you'll do#
- Use Excel to develop automated processes and reduce manual tasks.
- Assist in reviewing and investigating charge discrepancies.
- Prepare financial and statistical analysis, including data extraction and trend calculations.
- Participate in developing cost accounting standards and performing variance analysis.
- Assist with revenue cycle projects, such as cash posting, insurance follow-up, and physician coding.
- Prepare, monitor, and communicate operating and capital budgets.
- Perform charge reconciliation by verifying patient charges in the billing system.
- Research questions related to internal financial reporting to ensure policy compliance.
- Track reports, handle administrative duties, and assist with meeting support.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior or senior in a Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or Management degree program.
- A minimum grade point average of 2.5.
- Proficiency with Excel and strong computer skills.
- Effective communication, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to complete tasks.
- Ability to work well within a team.

- Term: Summer 2027 (May 31, 2027 to August 6, 2027).

- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday business hours.
