About the role#
The Federal Work Study Gallery Assistant supports university gallery and retail spaces. You will act as a greeter, welcome visitors, and assist with the installation of rotating art exhibitions. This role involves direct interaction with students, staff, and the public during regular operations and special events.
What you'll do#
- Provide customer service to gallery visitors.
- Use the POS system to process sales, catalog merchandise, and prepare reports.
- Assist with the installation and de-installation of monthly exhibitions.
- Answer incoming calls in a professional manner.
- Support special events as needed.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional communication.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one semester of classes at ArtU.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and stay self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills and reliability.
- Prior retail, customer service, gallery, or docent experience is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site at 2801 Leavenworth in San Francisco, California.
- This is a part-time role with a maximum of 20 hours per week.
- Schedules must not conflict with your class schedule.
- Employment continues from your start date through graduation.
