About the role#
Ziegler Caterpillar offers a hands-on internship program for students pursuing careers in diesel and heavy equipment mechanics. You will gain practical experience in our shop environment, working alongside senior technicians who provide mentorship and technical guidance. This is a paid, part-time position with a starting wage of $21.00 per hour.
What you'll do#
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel engines, construction equipment, and agricultural machinery.
- Develop professional skills by working directly with senior-level technicians.
- Learn to respond to customer needs in a supportive and timely manner.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2-year degree program for diesel engine, construction, or agricultural equipment mechanics.
- Good academic standing and positive recommendations from your instructors.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to work as part of a team.
- Your own set of mechanic tools.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 60 lbs and performing tasks like climbing, kneeling, and reaching.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, as this role is safety-sensitive.
