About the role#
Ziegler Caterpillar offers a hands-on internship program for students pursuing careers in diesel and heavy equipment mechanics. You will work alongside senior technicians to gain experience in the agriculture, construction, and mining industries. This role provides an opportunity to develop mechanical skills in a shop environment while receiving mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel engines and equipment.
- Learn to respond to customer needs in a positive and timely manner.
- Build real-world mechanical skills through direct application.
- Maintain safety standards in the work environment at all times.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2-year degree program for diesel engine, construction, or agricultural equipment mechanics.
- A record of good grades and positive recommendations from your instructors.
- Your own set of mechanic tools.
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs and push or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Comfort with physical tasks including climbing, kneeling, and reaching.

- Location: Duluth, Minnesota.
- Schedule: Full-time, rolling term.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $21.00 per hour.
- Note: This position is safety-sensitive and requires a pre-employment drug test.
