About the role#
Ziegler Caterpillar offers an internship program for students pursuing careers in diesel and heavy equipment mechanics. You will gain hands-on experience by working directly with senior technicians in a shop environment. This role focuses on developing your mechanical skills while you contribute to the maintenance of equipment used in the agriculture, construction, and mining industries.
What you'll do#
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel engines and related equipment.
- Work alongside senior technicians to receive mentorship and guidance.
- Respond to customer needs in a positive and timely manner.
- Develop real-world mechanical skills through daily shop tasks.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2-year degree program in diesel engine mechanics or a related field.
- A record of maintaining good grades.
- Positive recommendations from your instructors.
- Your own set of mechanic tools.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 60 lbs and pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to pass a drug test, as this is a safety-sensitive position.
