About the role#
Ziegler Caterpillar offers a hands-on internship program for students pursuing careers in diesel and heavy equipment mechanics. You will work in a shop environment to gain practical experience with construction, agriculture, and mining machinery. This is a full-time, paid position that focuses on mentorship and professional development.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel engines.
- Learn to diagnose and fix a wide variety of equipment.
- Respond to customer needs in a positive and timely manner.
- Develop real-world mechanical skills through direct mentorship.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2-year degree program for diesel engine, construction, or agricultural equipment mechanics.
- A record of good grades and positive recommendations from your instructors.
- Your own set of mechanic tools.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and perform physical tasks like kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
- Ability to pass a drug test, as this role is safety-sensitive.
