About the role#
Young Life is seeking interns to serve in youth ministry at military installations in Virginia. This program provides an opportunity to work alongside experienced staff to support middle and high school students. You will focus on building relationships, modeling a Christian life, and creating a community where teens can connect and grow. This is a paid, full-time, on-site role with a rolling start date.
What you'll do#
- Meet weekly with your supervisor to review goals and training tools.
- Lead and participate in Club Beyond clubs and small group ministry.
- Develop a 90-day personal growth plan for your spiritual development.
- Attend Chapel on the installation and participate in volunteer leader meetings.
- Recruit, train, and build a leadership team.
- Meet weekly with a volunteer to support their involvement.
- Assist with community outreach and equip other volunteers for ministry.
- Communicate monthly updates to your personal donor partners.
- Raise a portion of your budget through personal financial support.
- Embrace and respect the local military culture.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma earned at least two years ago.
- A deep love for Christ and for teens who do not have a church home.
- A teachable heart and strong initiative.
- Ability to communicate well.
- Energy and experience with small event planning.
- A commitment to a relational ministry approach.
- Majors in Sociology, Psychology, or Philosophy are relevant to this work.
Location & details#
- The position is based on-site at a military installation in Virginia.
- This is a paid internship.
- You will be expected to raise between $1,160 and $4,000 to cover your salary, depending on the specific location and duration of your service.
