About the role#
Young Life is seeking interns to serve in youth ministry leadership at military installations. You will work alongside experienced staff to provide a Christ-centered community for military teens. This role focuses on relational ministry, where you will build connections, model a personal example of faith, and help teens develop friendships and hope. You will operate within the Club Beyond program, which is outreach-oriented and ecumenical.
What you'll do#
- Meet weekly with supervising staff using team agenda tools.
- Participate in leading club and small group ministry for teens.
- Develop a 90-day personal growth plan to foster your spiritual life.
- Attend Chapel on installation and participate in volunteer leader meetings.
- Meet weekly with a volunteer to discuss their involvement.
- Learn to recruit and train new leaders while building a leadership team.
- Develop community outreach to unchurched teens and provide discipleship to believing teens.
- Lead and equip volunteers for middle and high school youth ministry.
- Communicate monthly updates with personal donor partners.
- Discuss the process of raising financial support with your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- High school graduation at least 2 years prior to the start date.
- A deep love for Christ and for teens.
- Strong initiative and an energetic approach to ministry.
- A teachable heart and the ability to communicate clearly.
- Commitment to a relational ministry approach.
- Skills in small event planning.
- Willingness to raise a portion of your budget through personal support.
- Respect for the unique military culture of the community.
- Majors in Psychology, Sociology, Communications, or Business Administration are relevant to this work.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Columbia, South Carolina.
- The role is on-site and full-time.
- This is a paid internship with a rolling start date.
- You will be required to live near the community where you serve.
