About the role#
As a Truck Driver Student, you will undergo training to obtain your CDL-A while gaining practical experience as an LTL Driver. This is a full-time, on-site role that involves operating heavy equipment and managing freight transport under supervision.
What you'll do#
- Attend training sessions to earn your CDL-A license.
- Gain on-the-job experience as an LTL Driver.
- Maintain records in accordance with FMCSR, DOT, and company policies.
- Load and unload freight using a forklift.
- Perform vehicle inspections and verify documentation.
- Safely operate heavy equipment and move converter dollies.
- Lift freight and objects of various shapes and sizes, frequently handling 50 lbs and occasionally over 75 lbs.
- Work in various weather conditions and maintain contact with service center personnel.
What you'll need#
- You are at least 21 years of age.
- You hold a valid state-issued driver's license for at least 12 months.
- You can obtain a CDL-A permit by the first day of class.
- You pass a DOT drug test and have no prior positive results.
- You are available for a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- You can read and speak English to converse with the public and understand traffic signs.
- Students from majors including Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, and Environmental Engineering are encouraged to apply.
