About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship opportunity for Summer 2026. As a Truck Driver Student, you will gain hands-on experience while training to obtain your CDL-A. This position is based on-site in Tonawanda, New York, and is open to students pursuing degrees in Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management.
What you'll do#
- Attend training sessions to obtain a CDL-A.
- Gain on-the-job experience as an LTL Driver.
- Perform vehicle inspections as required under section 396.13 of the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations.
- Load and unload freight using a forklift as needed.
- Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
- Maintain records in accordance with federal and company policies.
- Adhere to safety protocols while operating heavy equipment under supervision.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Hold a valid state-issued driver's license for a minimum of 12 months.
- Attain a CDL-A permit by the first day of class.
- Pass a DOT drug test and have no prior positive tests or refusals in the last 3 years.
- Pass a company-paid DOT physical and pre-hire test.
- Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Ability to lift freight up to 50 lbs frequently and occasionally over 75 lbs.
- Ability to read and speak English to converse with the public, understand traffic signs, and complete reports.
