About the role#
The Energy Accounting or Analyst Intern supports the PSCo Transmission Control Center. You will assist with collecting, validating, and reconciling energy data used for system balancing, settlements, and reliability reporting. This role offers exposure to electric utility operations, energy markets, and regulatory compliance requirements. You will work alongside Energy Accounting personnel and Balancing Authority Operations to ensure accurate accounting of power flows and interchange transactions.
What you'll do#
- Validate and reconcile hourly and monthly energy accounting data, including generation, load, and transmission transactions.
- Analyze data from the Energy Management System (EMS) and Integrated Energy Management (IEM) systems to support energy settlements.
- Investigate interchange, tagging, metering, and energy checkout issues to improve data accuracy.
- Create reports, dashboards, and spreadsheets for Transmission Operations and leadership teams.
- Assist with regulatory and reliability reporting by organizing operational data.
- Support real-time and after-the-fact energy analysis activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university as a Sophomore or higher as of Fall 2027.
- Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Availability to work full-time (up to 40 hours a week) during the summer and part-time (up to 20 hours a week) during the school year.
- Ability to commute to the office in Golden, Colorado for hybrid work.
- A desire to learn about energy markets and the operation of an electric transmission grid.
