About the role#
WSP is looking for a Structural Engineering Intern to join the Property and Buildings team in San Diego for the Fall 2026 semester. This is a part-time, on-site, paid position designed to provide hands-on experience on real projects alongside senior staff. You will work under the guidance of mentors to build your technical and professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Support various engineering tasks while learning core structural principles.
- Conduct project research and field work.
- Perform preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Help prepare final design plans, cost estimates, and special provisions.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Follow company policies, including the Code of Conduct, and exercise ethical decision-making.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate, master's, or PhD program in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- An anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to follow health and harassment policies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to take direction from leadership and mentors.
- Experience with structural engineering analysis software and design codes is preferred.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is a plus.
