About the role#
WSP is hiring a full-time Electrical Engineering Substation Intern for our summer 2027 program. This 12-week position is based in our Billings office. You will work alongside senior staff to gain hands-on experience and build professional skills. The program is scheduled to begin on May 17, 2027, though start dates can be flexible.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build your technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn the basic principles of electrical engineering.
- Assist with field work, project research, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, cost estimates, and special provisions.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training and follow company policies regarding resources and conduct.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate electrical engineering or related program with a graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- A demonstrated interest in electrical engineering and a desire to advance your skills.
- Ability to take direction from mentors and managers to complete projects.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A record of upholding workplace safety standards.
- Completion of junior-level power system analysis or protection courses is a plus, as is experience with software like AutoCAD, MicroStation, or SolidWorks.
