    About the role#

    This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will join our Power and Energy team to gain hands-on experience by working alongside senior staff on real engineering projects. The program lasts 12 weeks, starting May 17, 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Support a variety of engineering tasks to build your technical and professional skills.
    • Learn the basic principles of Electrical Engineering.
    • Assist with protective relaying, including short circuit analysis, relay settings, and compliance work.
    • Support power system planning studies, such as power flow, voltage stability, and simulation automation.
    • Contribute to infrastructure design studies, including substation grounding, insulation coordination, and power quality analysis.
    • Design and configure networking for SCADA and protection systems.
    • Develop logic and control schemes for power system equipment.
    • Prepare data acquisition systems and develop HMI screens.

    What you'll need#

    • Active enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate or Graduate program for Electrical Engineering or a related field.
    • You must be at least 18 years old.
    • Demonstrated interest in the electric utility or consulting engineering industries.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
    • Proficiency with technical writing, spreadsheets, and office software.
    • A proven track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to follow health, safety, and conduct policies.
    • Authorization to work in the United States.

    Location & details#

    • This is an on-site position. You are expected to work from your assigned office at least three days per week.
    • Office locations: Ann Arbor, MI; Maitland, FL; Indian Land, SC; Freeport, ME; or Syracuse, NY.
    • Compensation: $22.17 to $29.96 per hour.
    • No relocation or housing assistance is provided.
