About the role#
As an Operations Consulting Intern, you will work with experienced consultants to help manufacturing clients improve their productivity, quality, and overall profitability. You will gain hands-on experience in process improvement, Lean methodologies, and data analytics while working directly with client teams.
What you'll do#
- Observe and analyze manufacturing and supply chain processes to identify bottlenecks, waste, and inefficiencies.
- Develop current-state and future-state process maps and support value stream mapping activities.
- Gather and analyze operational and financial data to identify trends and evaluate performance.
- Track key manufacturing metrics including throughput, inventory, quality, on-time delivery, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Participate in client interviews, workshops, and Kaizen or continuous improvement events.
- Assist in creating dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Support implementation planning and evaluate opportunities for technology and automation.
- Collaborate with consultants, project managers, and subject matter experts.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- A college GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to build professional relationships.
- Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to high-quality work.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire. This role does not offer visa sponsorship.

- This is a paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based in Chicago, Illinois.
- This position follows a hybrid work arrangement, which includes working in the office, at home, and at client sites as required.
