About the role#
As an Operations Consulting Intern, you will work alongside experienced consultants to help manufacturing clients improve their productivity, quality, and overall profitability. You will gain hands-on experience with process improvement, Lean methodologies, and operational assessments while learning how to translate data into actionable client recommendations.
What you'll do#
- Observe and analyze manufacturing and supply chain processes to identify bottlenecks, waste, and inefficiencies.
- Develop current-state and future-state process maps and support value stream mapping activities.
- Gather and analyze operational and financial data to identify trends and evaluate performance.
- Track key manufacturing metrics including throughput, inventory, quality, on-time delivery, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
- Participate in client interviews, workshops, and Kaizen events.
- Create dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate findings and action plans to clients.
- Support implementation planning and change management, including the evaluation of technology and automation opportunities.
- Collaborate with consultants, project managers, and subject matter experts to build your professional and technical skills.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients and staff.
- A detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to high-quality work.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A desire to help companies maximize value through technology and process improvement.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This internship is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
- The term is for Summer 2027.
- This role follows a hybrid work arrangement, which includes working in the office, from home, and at various client sites. Attendance at scheduled in-person meetings is required.
