About the role#
SMSI is hiring a full-time intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with our procurement team to gain hands-on experience through technical training and mentorship. This position runs from May 2027 through August 2027.
What you'll do#
You will support the supply chain team by sourcing suppliers and gathering competitive quotations. Your work includes conducting market research to find new vendors and cost-saving opportunities. You will assist with purchase orders, contract documentation, and supplier evaluations. Additionally, you will help monitor supplier performance, track procurement metrics, and contribute to process improvement projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment at an accredited university pursuing a bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management.
- Status as a Junior, Senior, or Master's student as of fall 2027.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems independently and work well within a team.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
- US Citizenship.
- An active Real ID driver license for badging and onboarding.

This is an on-site internship located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This is a paid, full-time position.
