About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in power generation by supporting the operation, maintenance, and optimization of the Milwaukee Valley Power Plant. You will work alongside experienced engineers to help maintain the generating fleet. This role is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is scheduled for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Shadow and assist the plant mechanical engineer with daily tasks.
- Support equipment reliability and capital project efforts.
- Troubleshoot operation and maintenance issues under supervision.
- Assist with outage planning, including scope development, material management, and vendor selection.
- Learn to use company computer applications, drawing management systems, and work management tools.
- Review and update technical documentation and drawings.
- Participate in safety observations, environmental walkdowns, and high energy piping inspections.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma, GED, or HSED.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or Environmental Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- A graduation date after July 2027.
- A minimum GPA of 2.8.
- A valid driver license.

- Compensation: The pay range for this role is $23.10 to $27.55 per hour.
