    About the role#

    Waymo is hiring a Software Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in San Francisco, California. You will work on projects that impact our autonomous driving technology and collaborate with team leaders.

    What you'll do#

    • Investigate driving behavior issues using logs to find root causes.
    • Analyze large datasets to identify trends in vehicle behavior.
    • Research, design, and implement new perception and driving behaviors for depots.
    • Improve our evaluation tools to better understand on-road performance.
    • Solve complex driving situations in the long tail.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, ML, Robotics, or a similar technical field.
    • General software engineering experience with C++.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively within and across teams.
    • Experience in AV or Robotics is preferred.
    • Proficiency in Python and SQL is preferred.
    • Experience with graph search, optimization, or path planning algorithms is preferred.

    • Compensation: $60 per hour for Bachelor's students and $70 per hour for Master's students.
