About the role#
The Warner Bros. Discovery Academic Year Internship (WAY) program for CNN DC News is a six-month opportunity running from October 12, 2026, to April 16, 2027. This program is designed for rising seniors to gain professional experience through an extended internship. Interns will work 16-24 hours per week in a hybrid capacity in Washington, DC.
What you'll do#
- Conduct daily news research and perform diligent fact-checking.
- Monitor live political events and write recap notes or stories.
- Assist reporters and shows with political research requests.
- Track developments in voting and election rules.
- Create graphics and content for social media.
- Assist with editorial and production activities, including tape logging, screening video, and writing editorial copy.
What you'll need#
- Must be a rising Senior undergraduate graduating in Spring 2027.
- Must be actively enrolled in an accredited degree program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Majors in Broadcast Journalism, Media, Communications, Political Science, or Business Administration are preferred.
- Strong knowledge of current events and an interest in news and politics.
- Ability to function well under deadline pressure, iterate quickly, and respond to feedback.
- Must be a motivated, detail-oriented multitasker.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
