About the role#
The WBD Academic Year Internship (WAY) program offers a six-month opportunity for high-performing students to gain professional experience within CNN news operations in Washington, DC. This program runs from October 12, 2026, through April 16, 2027. Selected interns will work 16-24 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.
What you'll do#
- Conduct daily news research and perform diligent fact-checking.
- Monitor live political events and write accurate recap notes or stories.
- Assist reporters and shows with political research requests.
- Create graphics and content for social media platforms.
- Participate in editorial and production activities, including screening video and writing editorial copy.
What you'll need#
- Must be a rising Senior undergraduate, graduating in Spring 2027.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Majors in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Media Studies, or Business Administration are preferred.
- Strong knowledge of current events and a keen interest in news and politics.
- Ability to work as a motivated self-starter who can multitask, iterate quickly, and respond to feedback.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without future visa sponsorship.
