About the role#
CNN offers editorial and newsgathering internship opportunities for the Fall 2026 term. This program provides students with hands-on experience and mentorship within a professional newsroom environment. Interns work 16 to 24 hours per week over a 10-week period. This is a paid position.
What you'll do#
- Report and write multiple news stories every week, including opportunities to receive bylines.
- Pitch original story ideas and conduct interviews.
- Fact-check information and log tapes for news segments.
- Research developing and breaking news stories.
- Receive mentorship and guidance from team members.
What you'll need#
- Must be a rising Junior or Senior (18 years or older) currently enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program.
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA or above and be in academic good standing.
- Pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or Political Science.
- Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to provide writing samples upon request.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
