About the role#
CNN News Show Team internships offer students the opportunity to contribute to major news programs, including Anderson Cooper 360, Erin Burnett OutFront, Laura Coates Live, NewsNight with Abby Phillip, and The Source with Kaitlan Collins. Interns work directly with production teams to support editorial processes and live broadcast operations.
What you'll do#
- Monitor news sources to assist in real-time coverage, gather information, and verify facts during breaking news events.
- Conduct research on current events, individuals, and topics to support on-air segments and interviews.
- Collaborate with producers and researchers in editorial meetings and brainstorming sessions.
- Assist in show production by preparing scripts, graphics, and video elements, and supporting logistics for shoots and live broadcasts.
- Contribute to social media presence by creating content and engaging with audiences during broadcasts.
- Participate in live control room operations and support story development from inception to completion.
What you'll need#
- Must be an actively enrolled undergraduate student (rising Junior or Senior) in an accredited college or university program.
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Strong passion for journalism and current events with excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in online research and news-related software tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a detail-oriented, high-pressure, and collaborative environment.
- Availability for flexible, in-person work hours.
- Majors considered include Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Political Science, English, Business Administration, Psychology, and Sociology.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Fall 2026 (October 12th to December 18th).
- Work Modality: On-site, 16 to 24 hours per week.
- Compensation: $19 per hour.
