About the role#
The CNN News Show Team offers internship opportunities in New York for the Fall 2026 semester. This program provides students with hands-on experience in news production, editorial processes, and live broadcasting. Interns will work directly with show teams, including programs such as Anderson Cooper 360, Erin Burnett OutFront, Laura Coates Live, NewsNight with Abby Phillip, and The Source with Kaitlan Collins.
What you'll do#
- Assist in real-time news coverage by monitoring news sources, gathering information, and verifying facts for breaking news.
- Conduct research on topics, individuals, and current events to support editorial processes and on-air segments.
- Collaborate with producers and researchers to develop news stories and participate in editorial meetings.
- Support production tasks, including preparing scripts, graphics, and video elements, as well as assisting with logistics for shoots and live broadcasts.
- Contribute to social media presence by creating content and participating in audience engagement.
- Gain experience in the control room during live broadcasts.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university as a rising Junior or Senior undergraduate student.
- Academic good standing with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
- A strong passion for journalism and current events.
- Proficiency in online research and news-related software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to work in a high-pressure, collaborative environment.
- Ability to work flexible, in-person hours.
- Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
- Relevant majors include Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Political Science, English, Business Administration, Psychology, or Sociology.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Duration: 10 weeks, from October 12th to December 18th, 2026.
- Commitment: 16 to 24 hours per week on-site.
- Compensation: $19 per hour.
