About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work with application chemists and technicians in the polymers industry. You will learn about vinyl acetate ethylene dispersion chemistry and its use in adhesives. You will work on-site in Allentown, Pennsylvania, for a 12-week period during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Develop and evaluate adhesive formulations for paper and packaging applications.
- Use laboratory instruments such as rotational rheometers, differential scanning calorimeters, and Instron universal testing systems.
- Design and optimize test methods to link laboratory measurements to real-world performance.
- Build technical, problem-solving, and project management skills through independent research and collaboration.
- Summarize and present your findings to the team.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a rising junior or senior.
- Enrollment in a degree program such as Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science and Engineering, or Polymer Science and Technology.
- Ability to work independently while following laboratory procedures and safety practices.
- Availability to work full-time for the duration of the 12-week summer program.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States on a permanent unrestricted basis, as visa sponsorship is not available.
