About the role#
The Data Science Fellow role is a one-year program that pairs participants with a Vizient executive mentor. Fellows work across healthcare domains including clinical and operations, supply chain, pharmacy, and healthcare strategy. Projects are matched to individual interests and goals to improve operations, enhance products, or generate new insights.
What you'll do#
- Work with internal data science teams on assigned projects.
- Develop data science approaches, including machine learning models, to improve understanding and predict healthcare outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal Vizient staff, leaders, and external stakeholders such as clients and vendors.
- Conduct self-directed research into healthcare data topics.
- Participate in client-facing meetings to understand business needs.
- Complete cross-functional project assignments and present a capstone project at the end of the fellowship.
What you'll need#
- Master’s degree in data science, statistics, medical or health informatics, or a related field is desired.
- Strong proficiency with programming languages including Python, R, or SAS.
- Strong proficiency with database design involving SQL.
- Demonstrated proficiency in quantitative skills for data analysis and machine learning model development.
- Experience working with healthcare data, such as EHR or EMR data and medical terminologies, is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Generative AI models and machine learning operations is preferred.
- Strong communication and project management skills.
- Submission of a resume and a one-page personal statement explaining your interest in the fellowship is required.

- Compensation: The salary range is $51,900.00 to $87,900.00, and the position is incentive eligible.
