Through meaningful work assignments, coaching, and mentorship, you'll develop the skills and knowledge needed to help members protect their financial future through life insurance solutions.As a Life Solutions Specialist Intern, you'll support efforts to deliver exceptional member service by understanding member needs, educating members on life insurance options, and assisting with solutions that align with their financial goals. You may also provide support for Health Solutions acquisition and retention activities based on member demand.Our internship program is designed to help you build professional skills, expand your industry knowledge, and gain real-world experience in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment. Interns work closely with managers, mentors, and business partners while contributing to meaningful business initiatives.The Life Solutions Specialist Internship will be based at both our Plano, Texas office and Tampa, Florida office this summer. Interns offered full-time roles may have the opportunity to work out of one of USAA’s satellite locations in addition to our USAA headquarters in San Antonio, Texas.What You'll DoWorking under direct supervision and following established risk management and compliance guidelines, you will:Support members through inbound and outbound communications, including phone calls and other communication channels.Receive requests from current and prospective members and identify opportunities to meet their life insurance needs.Ask thoughtful questions to understand members' financial situations, life events, goals, and insurance needs while documenting relevant information accurately.Provide basic life insurance education and protection strategies that align with member needs.Develop foundational consultative and sales skills by helping members understand available solutions and motivating them to take action on recommendations.Handle member objections and questions using effective communication and relationship-building techniques.Conduct follow-up outreach to assist members in completing the acquisition of products and services previously discussed.Adhere to all regulatory, compliance, and risk management requirements while maintaining a member-focused experience.Collaborate with teammates, leaders, and business partners to support organizational objectives and enhance the member experience.Participate in training, development opportunities, and mentorship activities designed to prepare you for a future career with USAA.Spend approximately 50% of time supporting member interactions, including:Making outbound calls to schedule appointments for Life Solutions Specialists.Handling inbound calls to triage member needs and transfer members to the appropriate resource.Greeting members, verifying identity, and ensuring account authentication requirements are met prior to servicing requests.Spend approximately 50% of time participating in Y-Cording activities and business process learning, including:Partnering with Business Process Owners (BPOs) to observe workflows and provide feedback on identified opportunities and observations.Developing an understanding of operational processes, member journeys, and business outcomes through structured learning experiences.Participating in Pipeline Classes and other training opportunities to gain exposure to the Life organization, sales processes, and career development pathways.Sharing insights and recommendations to support continuous improvement initiatives and enhance the member experience.What You Need to HaveTo be eligible, you must be pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university and plan to graduate after the completion of the internship.Our Summer 2027 Internship Program runs from June 2, 2027, through August 13, 2027.Minimum Qualifications:Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Financial Planning, Finance, Business, Economics, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field.Expected graduation date after August 13, 2027.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, or involvement through coursework, extracurricular activities, work experience, or community engagement.Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, and work in a fast-paced environment.Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.What Sets You ApartExpected graduation date between August 2027 and June 2028.Demonstrated interest in financial services, insurance, financial planning, or member-facing sales roles.Coursework in financial planning, personal finance, insurance, investments, economics, or related disciplines.Previous customer service, sales, call center, financial services, or leadership experience.Strong relationship-building, communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts in a simple and understandable manner.Proven ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other business productivity tools.Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $25 - $33. Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.USAA does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
