About the role#
The Risk Analyst Intern role focuses on identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk across USAA. You will use data-driven techniques to provide insights that support strategic decision-making. This internship provides hands-on experience and may lead to selection into a two-year risk development rotational program after graduation.
What you'll do#
- Support the assessment of future risk, opportunities, and efficiency.
- Assist the team in creating methodologies to quantify risk and aggregate exposures.
- Help with model validation activities and reporting.
- Create analytical material for cross-functional teams to help understand business objectives.
- Compile communication materials regarding analytical results and findings for governance committees and business process owners.
- Provide support for internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and rating agency requests.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Math, Computer Science, Business, Finance, or a related field at a 4-year accredited university.
- Expected graduation date after August 13, 2027.
- 0 to 2 years of related experience with simple to moderately complex tasks or projects.
- Foundational knowledge of risk management, regulatory, or operations experience in areas like banking, insurance, audit, or project management.
- Basic knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques.
- Proficiency with Excel and an understanding of technological languages.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a self-starter mindset.

- Term: Summer 2027 (June 2, 2027, through August 13, 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment: Full-time paid internship.
