About the role#
As a Cybersecurity Intern, you will join our team to integrate AI into our security operations. You will work alongside other interns and a dedicated mentor to develop two primary tools: an offensive harness that executes attacker techniques to test our detection systems, and a defensive harness that uses AI agents to assist analysts with alert triage and vulnerability prioritization. This is a hands-on role where you will leave behind functional, documented code for our team to use after the program ends.
What you'll do#
- Script MITRE ATT&CK techniques and run them in a test environment to measure detection speed and results.
- Build a defensive harness using LLMs and agents to draft alert triage and chain vulnerability findings into attack paths with a recommended fix order.
- Analyze detection coverage, alert quality, and time-to-fix metrics.
- Use AI coding tools to perform testing, code reviews, and technical documentation.
- Write runbooks and demo your completed tools to cybersecurity leadership.
What you'll need#
- Rising Junior or above at an accredited four-year college or university with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Coursework in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Experience building something with generative AI, such as an app or agent using an LLM API.
- Proficiency in Python, Git, SQL, and data analysis libraries like pandas.
- Experience working with APIs and JSON.
- Ability to clean messy datasets and explain your findings clearly.
- Experience using AI coding assistants.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship located on-site at our headquarters in Plano, Texas.
- The program runs for ten weeks, from May 25 through July 30, 2027.
- You must be available to work in the office Monday through Friday.
