About the role#
The Student Equipment Technician maintains and repairs exercise equipment at the Half Acre Gym and Wellness Center. You will diagnose malfunctions, research technical manuals, and replace parts on machines ranging from treadmills to weight equipment. This position offers hands-on experience with mechanical systems and requires an organized approach to facility maintenance.
What you'll do#
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on exercise equipment.
- Use the Fitness Asset Manager database to track and schedule maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and identify necessary replacement parts.
- Manage the functionality of facility Digi-Lockers.
- Keep the facility clean and assist with miscellaneous repairs on items like furniture and fixtures.
- Move heavy equipment exceeding 200 lbs when necessary.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at the University of Wyoming.
- An expected graduation date no earlier than May 2027, with at least two semesters remaining after hire.
- Experience working with tools and machinery.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
- Majors in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering are preferred.
