About the role#
The Student Cook for Catering and Events performs entry-level general and routine cooking and kitchen tasks under direct supervision. This is a part-time, on-site position based in Laramie, Wyoming.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and cook a variety of foods including meat, fish, vegetables, gravies, cereals, soups, and fruits according to established recipes and procedures.
- Prepare salads, dressings, and desserts, and manage the storage of leftover food.
- Clean and maintain the kitchen pantry, utensils, refrigerators, and food service equipment while adhering to sanitation and safety standards.
- Notify supervisors regarding food and supply needs, equipment issues, or work area problems.
- Check in food and supplies as directed.
- Attend and participate in required training and professional development activities.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and sanitation procedures for large-scale food production.
- Familiarity with state and local health sanitation codes for kitchen operations.
- Ability to determine ingredient quantities based on specific orders.
- Experience with the maintenance and care of culinary facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Ability to use common kitchen utensils and follow instructions effectively.
- Basic math skills for calculating quantities.
