Hourly Pooled - Student Cook, Catering & Events

About the role#

The University of Wyoming is seeking a Student Cook to join the Catering and Events team. This is an entry-level, on-site, part-time position focused on performing routine cooking and kitchen tasks under direct supervision.

What you'll do#

• Prepare and cook a variety of foods including meat, fish, vegetables, gravies, cereals, soups, and fruits according to established recipes.
• Prepare salads, dressings, and desserts, and manage the storage of leftover food.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen pantry, utensils, refrigerators, and work areas in compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
• Monitor food and supply levels, notify supervisors of needs, and assist with checking in deliveries.
• Participate in required professional development and training activities.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques and sanitation procedures for large-scale production.
• Familiarity with state and local health sanitation codes for kitchen operations.
• Ability to maintain culinary facilities, equipment, and supplies.
• Competency in determining ingredient quantities based on specific orders.
• Ability to use common kitchen utensils and equipment while following instructions.
• Basic math skills for calculating quantities.
