    About the role#

    We are looking for a motivated intern to join the Slingshot ASIC Firmware and Diagnostic team. This is a hands-on role where you will contribute to firmware development, build diagnostic tooling, and support testing within a Linux environment. You will work alongside Hardware, Firmware, and Software teams to implement features and resolve technical issues.

    What you'll do#

    • Write, test, and debug C code for Slingshot ASIC board firmware.
    • Develop and maintain Python-based diagnostic tooling, data collectors, parsers, and test utilities.
    • Create and maintain Bash scripts for automation, build processes, and test harnesses.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement features and resolve issues.
    • Document code, test plans, results, and user guides.
    • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the internal knowledge base.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
    • Working level knowledge of C programming, Python, Bash, and Linux.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
    • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly.

    Location & details#

    • This position is based in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, or Bloomington, Minnesota.
    • The role is hybrid, requiring you to work from an HPE office on average 2 days per week.
    • This is a full-time, paid internship.
