Hourly Pooled - Help Desk Student Technician

About the role#

The Help Desk Student Technician provides first-line technical support to students, faculty, and staff at the University of Wyoming. This role offers hands-on experience in IT troubleshooting and customer service while supporting the operation of campus technology services. This is a paid, part-time, on-site position with rolling terms.

What you'll do#

• Respond to support requests via phone, email, or in-person regarding hardware, software, and network issues.
• Diagnose and resolve common technical problems, including software malfunctions, connectivity issues, and peripheral setup such as printers and monitors.
• Log, track, and update support tickets in the university’s IT service management system.
• Assist users in understanding and utilizing university software, applications, and IT resources.
• Perform routine IT tasks, including software installations and updates.
• Collaborate with IT staff and other departments to ensure effective communication and seamless technology support across campus.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a major such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity.
• Experience in IT help desk or customer service roles.
• Familiarity with university systems or enterprise software, such as email, file sharing, and learning management systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to work on-site at the Laramie campus.
