About the role#
The Student Educational Opportunity (SEO) Tutor provides academic support to students within various educational grant programs. The role focuses on helping students develop sustainable study skills, clarify course information, and foster a positive approach to learning. This is a part-time, hourly position with flexible scheduling based on student demand and the tutor's subject expertise.
What you'll do#
- Meet with 1-5 students per semester to monitor progress and answer course-related questions.
- Challenge students to effectively utilize their course materials to improve academic performance.
- Maintain documentation for record-keeping purposes.
- Communicate clearly and flexibly with students via phone, Zoom, email, and in-person.
- Attend required SEO tutor trainings and CRLA trainings provided by the STEP tutoring program.
What you'll need#
- At least three semesters of postsecondary education.
- A grade of at least a 'B' in the specific courses you wish to tutor.
- Completion and passing of a background check.
- Preference is given to candidates with at least a 3.0 GPA.
- While open to various fields, there is a particular interest in candidates capable of tutoring biology, mathematics, environmental engineering, business administration, and psychology.
