About the role#
The Student Educational Opportunity (SEO) Tutor position supports students in various educational grant programs. Tutors help students develop sustainable study skills, clarify course information, and build a positive approach to learning. This is a flexible, hourly position where weekly hours depend on the number of tutoring requests and the specific courses you are qualified to teach.
What you'll do#
- Meet with 1-5 students per semester to track their academic progress and answer course-related questions.
- Challenge students to effectively use their course materials to improve their performance.
- Communicate clearly and flexibly with students via phone, Zoom, email, and in-person meetings.
- Attend required SEO tutor trainings and CRLA trainings provided by the STEP tutoring program.
- Maintain necessary documentation for record-keeping purposes.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least three semesters of postsecondary education.
- A grade of at least a B in any course you wish to tutor.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Preference is given to applicants with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- While all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply, there is a specific need for tutors in fields such as Biology, Mathematics, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, and Psychology.

- This position is located in Laramie, Wyoming.
- Work must be performed on-site on the University of Wyoming campus.
- This is a paid, part-time position with rolling availability.
