About the role#
The Branding Iron Copy Editor ensures the accuracy, clarity, and quality of content for the print edition and digital platforms. You will maintain editorial standards, check for factual consistency, and assist with the layout of print editions.
What you'll do#
- Edit news, sports, features, opinion, and multimedia content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and AP style.
- Verify names, titles, dates, and facts for accuracy.
- Proofread pages and digital content before publication.
- Write headlines, captions, and cutlines.
- Collaborate with writers, designers, and editors to maintain publication quality.
- Attend editorial meetings and training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a University of Wyoming student.
- Working knowledge of AP Style or a willingness to learn.
- Strong attention to detail to identify errors and inconsistencies.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Prior experience in journalism, student media, or related coursework is helpful but not required.
Location & details#
- This position is on-site in Laramie, Wyoming.
- You must be available for production deadlines on Sunday and Wednesday nights.
- Training sessions are held Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- This is a paid position for the Fall 2026 term.
