About the role#
The Student Disability Access Center (SDAC) at the University of Virginia is hiring a Graduate Student Assistant to support accessible course materials and exam administration for students with disabilities. This role involves office operations and direct student support. You will report to the Assistant Director of Accessible Media and Technology or the Associate Director. This is a part-time position for 15-20 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Create accessible course materials by converting documents and applying alternative text practices.
- Resolve accommodation-related issues with faculty and staff.
- Manage exam administration, including monitoring exam integrity and cameras.
- Coordinate exam logistics such as printing, confirming information with professors, and approving requests.
- Maintain confidential student records and communications.
- Perform clerical tasks like answering phones, filing, and greeting walk-ins.
- Check in students for appointments and exams.

- A Bachelor's degree and current registration as a graduate student.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population.
- Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.
- Self-motivation and the ability to follow directions.
- A friendly and dependable demeanor.
- Completion of required training before starting the role.
- Signature on a confidentiality agreement.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- The work modality is hybrid.
- The role is paid at $17 per hour.
- Hours are available between Monday and Thursday, 8am to 9pm, and Friday, 8am to 5pm.
