About the role#
The Library Graduate Digital Accessibility Lead manages one of two sub-teams within the UVA Library Digital Accessibility Student Team: Captioning & Transcription or PDF & Document Remediation. This position reports to the Digital Accessibility Specialist and is suitable for graduate students interested in accessibility program management, library services, or related fields. Federal work-study students are eligible to apply.
What you'll do#
- Provide day-to-day direction to two undergraduate Assistants, including task assignment and deadline management.
- Review all undergraduate output before final submission and deliver constructive feedback.
- Perform advanced production work in your assigned track, handling complex materials that exceed undergraduate skill levels.
- Develop or refine quality checklists and standards for the team.
- Contribute to the documentation of institutional accessibility standards and guidelines for future cohorts.
- Maintain accurate production logs and track team throughput.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree and current registration as a graduate student.
- Prior experience with captioning, transcription, or audio/video editing.
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Interest in disability studies, media accessibility, or library and information science.
- Ability to work up to 20 hours per week, with an average of 10-12 hours across the semester.
