About the role#
The IT Business Analyst Intern supports the Identity and Access Management (IAM) Operations team at the University of Virginia. You will assist with operational and project-based initiatives to improve identity lifecycle management and access governance. This role offers hands-on experience with enterprise platforms like Fischer Identity and Grouper while working alongside technical and business stakeholders.
What you'll do#
- Create, update, and maintain IAM process documentation, standard operating procedures, and user guides.
- Develop and execute test plans, test scripts, and validation activities based on business and technical requirements.
- Support reconciliation efforts to validate identity data and target system attributes for accuracy and consistency.
- Assist with the bi-annual IAM Security Group Audit by coordinating with stakeholders to validate access.
- Generate and analyze identity reports, queries, and operational metrics to support decision-making and process improvements.

- Current undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Virginia.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Relevant majors include Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, Communications, Human Resources, Operations Management, Data Science, or Mathematics.
